Sprouts – The Living Food Wonder
Meaning of “Sprouts”
Sprouted foods essentially mean that their state has changed from being simply a seed / legume to a germinated food; what grows out of them is the sprouted part. The longer the germination time, the more nutritious it becomes.
Sprouts are rich in Living Enzymes which is the most important and advantageous character. When a food has its own enzymes, it does not require the body’s enzymes to full extent which saves your own enzymes and hence your energy.
More Benefits of Sprouts

What happens When you save your Enzyme Quota?
You don’t age quickly. Basically, we age fast because our enzyme quota depletes at that rate. The slower it depletes, the less pace we age at. Essentially once your body enzyme quota finishes, we die.
History of Sprouts
Sprouts were used as long as 5000 years ago by Chinese Physicians. The link below gives a great historical perspective to Sprouts and is a good read.
How to Sprout for Health?
Right amount of air, water and right temperature helps the germination process. Soaking seeds / legumes is a pre-requisite to germination. Different type of seeds and legumes may require different time length of soaking. This whole process will require just about a minute day of your time. This also means you are reducing your footprint on this planet.
*Make sure the grains you want to sprout are not hulled otherwise they won’t germinate.
Step 1 – Soak seeds/legumes depending upon the type. Soaking time may vary from 5-6 hrs for small seeds to 36 hrs for harder and bigger ones.
Step 2 – Rinse and keep them either in a sprouting box or in a container which has a provision for air flow. That can be covered with a damp muslin cloth or a net.
Step 3 – Allow to germinate for 3-7 days depending upon how long the sprouts you want.
Step 4 – Required to rinse once every day.
