I never understood how mundanity could affect my productivity. But now I do. Yes, mundanity is positive. What you do every morning defines who you are and where you are in life? We do not come with a blue print of a routine; rather, we develop it. Each one of us are unique bio-individuals and it is great to have our own unique morning routine to start the day with a bang! Does it have to be loud? No. just making it a happy moment for you from within so you can handle the rest of your day with ease and smile all day long.
My morning routine looks like this and I do not kill myself if any or more of what I do is left out once in a while for a reason:
- When I know I am awake, I smile and rub my hands together to gently place them on my eyes. I express my gratitude and wake up.
- I grab my gratitude journal and my pen is already impatient to express who and what all I am thankful to have around me this morning. It is magical to have a journal that expresses my simple matters of happiness. Two years ago is when I actually got down to start writing gratitude although it is absolutely great to have other medium of expressing, be it techy or just verbal. Oh, and you don’t have to do it in the morning, anytime of the day is just fine.
- Get out for a brisk walk, at the least for 3 kms, followed by one form of exercise outdoor – could be yoga stretches to my comfort (no strict series of poses) or rebounding exercises on my trampoline, breathing exercises a must. If you do not have a garden, that is absolutely fine because these exercises can be done in your balcony or your living room.
- Take a shower and meditate for 15 minutes.
- Have my morning smoothie
Hey! I am ready to rock the world!
You must be thinking, this takes time and you are right because I take time to go through my routine but like I said above each one of us is unique and your own unique morning routine is what will make you special. A morning routine can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 3 hours. Its for you to find out what works for you the best. Feel free to include Gym or sports or playing with your kids or any thing that makes you happy on a daily basis.
